Maria-Oord in Luttenberg is a historic and beloved nursing home that plays an important role in the community. Originally built in 1938 by the Franciscan Sisters of Denekamp, it served as a place where sick and elderly sisters could be cared for. Until 1975, the management and care was in the hands of these sisters.
Over the years, Maria-Oord has undergone several transformations. In 2010, the building was purchased by Zorggroep Raalte, with the aim of maintaining elderly care in Luttenberg. This ensured that residents could continue to enjoy the familiar environment and tailor-made care.
Recently, Stichting LuttenbergWoont took the initiative to further develop Maria-Oord into a sustainable residential and care facility. The project includes the construction of both owner-occupied and rental apartments, with communal areas for care and other activities. The aim is to create a pleasant place where elderly people can live independently with the necessary support from family, friends and volunteers.
Maria-Oord remains a symbol of care and community in Luttenberg, where people come together to create a safe and comfortable living environment for the older generation.
